the lure of memory
the lure of memory (Masters Examination exhibition) presented a series of works that investigate how creative practice can embody personal memory by exploring women’s homemaking practices and acts of preservation. The exhibition existed in four iterations where three key works shifted in relation to each other and the gallery space over time, taking on alternative forms that bore witness to the unstable processes of recalling memories. In the hallway outside the main exhibition space a fourth work remained unchanged throughout the duration of the exhibition. By framing the exhibition into chapters it is implied that multiple iterations can exist after the conclusion of the exhibition as potential prologues, epilogues, prequels, and sequels to this body of work, where these ideas can return as many times as they need to.
